A modern invoice reads top to bottom in one pass: who sent it, what it is for, what is owed. This design puts the amount due in a blue block at the top right so the client sees it before the line items, and keeps everything else in charcoal on white.
Free, fillable, US Letter, no email, no sign-up. The Avo app for iPhone makes invoices in its own layout and adds up the totals; this PDF is for the modern look.

The filled sample. Names, addresses and amounts are made up; the blank PDF you download has the same fields empty.
The blue stripe down the left edge is the only decoration. Headings are semibold, numbers are medium weight so they line up, and there is a 12-point gap between sections instead of boxes. Printed on a black-and-white office printer the stripe becomes dark grey and the layout still works.
A homepage redesign billed as a fixed fee plus development hours, with the deposit credited at the bottom.
Project name in the header, a short line table, terms stated once. Nothing a procurement team has to ask about.
If your current invoice is the spreadsheet grid from 2011, this is the same information with better spacing.
Header: your studio name, address and contact. Client block with a project line. Invoice number, date, due date and terms in a row. Five item lines with quantity or hours, rate and amount. Subtotal, tax, a deposit credit and the total due. A notes box for payment details.
The sample shows a web studio billing a cafe for a redesign: a fixed design fee, 24 hours of development, an ordering integration, and a $1,500 deposit taken off at the end. The balance due is the number in the blue block.

In the PDF, no: the colour is part of the page. If you need your own colour, download the Word version of the standard template and recolour the header there, or use the online generator and add your logo.
Yes. Every blank is a form field. Open it in Preview, Acrobat Reader, Chrome or the Files app on an iPhone, tap a field and type. Save a copy with your details filled in and reuse it.
No. PDF forms on this site do not run scripts, so you type the subtotal and total. The Excel version of the standard template adds up for you, and the Avo app calculates everything as you add lines.
Five on this page. For longer jobs, group work into phases (design, build, launch) or attach a time log and bill one line per phase.
