Questions
Do house cleaners need to give receipts?
Not legally in most states, but clients who pay cash, rent the property or get reimbursed will ask, and a receipt is also your record for income taxes. Issuing one for every job takes a minute with a template and removes the awkward request later.
How do I write a receipt for a recurring cleaning client?
One receipt per visit with the date and the standard price, or one monthly receipt that lists each visit as a line. Monthly is easier for the client's records; per visit is easier if they sometimes skip.
Should a cleaning receipt show the tip?
Yes, on its own line, if the client paid it through you. It keeps your service price consistent across receipts and separates tip income in your books.
Can I use this receipt for Airbnb or vacation rental turnovers?
Yes. Put the property address and the checkout date in the header; hosts file these receipts as cleaning expenses and often need one per turnover.
